began her singing career on the fireplace “stage” of her parents’ home at age 3. Her first professional performance was with Tremor, a Sacramento-grown jazz-fusion-rock band at the age of 14. She and husband/drummer Tim co-founded the jazz & swing group Party of Six! in early 2005. Since 2006 they have been entertaining Sacramento Area listeners as the Nicole Hodson Quartet in elegant venues such as Slocum House, Ten 22, Sutter Club, the Zinfandel Grille, the Bella Piazza Winery and many more. Nicole earned a bachelor’s degree in Theater Arts from California State University, Sacramento in 1996. Her chief musical influence has been her mother Barbara, a classically trained opera singer, who introduced Nicole to the music she now performs with her quartet. Other musical influences include Billie Holiday, Patsy Cline, Linda Ronstadt, Natalie Cole, Dianne Schurr and Diana Krall.

Tim Hodson

born in Sacramento, California, has been playing drums for over 40 years. He began playing publicly at the age of 8 in the Sacramento Youth Band. As a teenager he co-founded Tremor, a jazz-rock trio who performed at numerous venues which included opening acts for Pablo Cruise and WAR, performing at the California State Fair. While in his teens, Tim’s family moved to Michigan where he studied jazz extensively in Detroit and Ann Arbor. Tim rose to the top of his peer group through numerous jazz ensemble and drum competitions. His drumming influences include artists such as Elvin Jones, Billy Cobham, Dave Weckl and Jeff Hamilton. Locally, Tim has had the pleasure of learning from exceptional instructors Stan Linetta, Jimmy Griego and Tim Metz.
